Anti-virus and content checking

Most people now realise that anti-virus systems are essential protective measures for all organisations.

Content checking systems analyse external traffic (E-mail, Internet Browsing) to enable filtering of that traffic based on what it contains. For example, this can be used to implement internet browsing policies (prevent porn or illegal sites), or ensure no E-mails are sent from your organisation with a given list of offensive words.

In conjunction with Anti-virus systems, Content checking systems allow the prevention of malicious code being inadvertently brought into your systems by unsolicited or malicious E-mail infected with viruses or by the browsing of malicious web sites that have code intended to infiltrate your systems.

In effect the combination of the two technologies allows very effective prevention of viral and other malicious attacks at the perimeter, whilst providing a mechanism of implementing other aspects of your security or HR policies.
